本作は、広島県にある大久野島に焦点を当てた作品です。私は広島出身であり、これまで平和教育を受けてきましたが、戦争を被害者の視点から学ぶことが多かったように感じています。戦後70年が経過した今、広島という場所が戦争とどのように関わったのかを、自分自身で改めて考察してみようと思いました。

大久野島は、広島県竹原市に属する無人島です。現在では、数多くのうさぎが生息していることから観光地として知られていますが、第一次世界大戦中には、地理的条件や秘密保持のしやすさから毒ガスの生産拠点として利用されていたという歴史があります。この島では多くの化学兵器が製造されましたが、機密保持のため島の存在自体が隠されており、どのように使用されたのかなどの詳細は、現在でも明らかにされていません。戦後、島内で化学兵器の地中処分が行われましたが、現在でも地中4〜5メートルの土壌から高濃度のヒ素が検出されるなど、負の遺産が残されています。

本作では、汚染の可能性がある大久野島の土壌で栽培したほうれん草を、島に住むうさぎたちと共に食べるというパフォーマンスを行い、その様子を記録した映像作品を展示しました。この試みは、自ら島に介入することでその歴史を掘り下げ、広島という場所が戦争とどのように関わってきたのかを、個人的な視点から考察することを目的としています。また、「戦争と平和」を単純に対立させるような思考の枠組みに対し、異なる角度から問い直す試みとして制作しました。

big secret of the Japanese army. After the war, a private enterprise dumped poison gas in a careless way. The poison gas was
buried in the ground, and the sea. In fact, Arsenic is detected from the soil on the island even now.
I think Ōkuno island is a very dangerous place.
But,The Ōkuno island has become a tourist destination, because many wild rabbits are there. I have strange feeling to such
Japanese society. I have taken the polluted soil of Ōkuno island.　　　　　　　
I was brought up spinaches in the that contaminated soil, and I brought in I brought in the spinach to Ōkuno island. Then,
I made a performance that the rabbits and I ate the spinach. I ate indirectly arsenic and Japanese history.
